The Oklahoma Supreme Court ruled that the Oklahoma constitution bans using public property to benefit a religion on June 30 and that the Ten Commandments monument at the State Capitol must be removed. The ruling also stated that the Ten Commandments are “obviously religious in nature” and they indirectly benefit the Jewish and Christian faiths.

The decision reversed a 2014 ruling by Oklahoma County District Judge Thomas Prince, who ruled that the monument could stay. The Oklahoma Supreme Court has instructed Prince to implement their ruling. A hearing is scheduled for September 11 to comply with the order and to determine what will be done with the monument.
