The Bartlesville Public Schools Board of Educaction unanimously approves the hiring of six addiditonal school resource officers (SRO) which will place one officer in each of the district's schools.

BPS Supt. Chuck McCauley says this is something that was already in the budget, but the recent shootings at a school in Texas and at a medical facility in Tulsa hastened the move.

Through an agreement with the city of Bartlesville, BPS will be responsible for 75 percent of each of the school resource officers' pay since most of their time will be spent at the schools. The district already employs three SROs.

The meeting was also highlighted by a safety review given by BPS Director of Healt and Safety, Kerry Ikleberry (see videos below) wherby it was announced that there will be no confusion should a threat occur at the Bartlesville Schools. Ikleberry says the SRO for that school will be the lead until BPD arrives on the scene and that SRO will be tasked with pursuing the threat immediately and neutralizing it.

Lastly, at Monday's BPS Board of Ed. meeting, the board met in executive session for the annual review of Supt. Chuck McCauley. The board then met again in public session to approve his retention for another year.
