The Bartlesville Indians baseball team will be honoring a longtime local sports icon Wednesday for "Mike Tupa Night" at Doenges Memorial Stadium.

Tupa passed away on April 7 and was the sports editor of the Bartlesville Examiner-Enterprise for 30 years prior to his retirement. He also co-founded Bartlesville Area Sports website with colleague Becky Burch.

The Indians will be celebrating Tupa's life with a ceremonial first pitch thrown out by Burch and former co-worker David Austin. Additionally, the concession stand will have specials on some of Tupa's favorite snack items.

Wednesday's ballgame against the Tulsa Baron Gold begins at 5:30 p.m. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children 11-17, first responders and teachers. Admission is free for military members, seniors and children 10 and under.
