OKWU Baseball Gets Win #41

Oklahoma Wesleyan University Eagles baseball team improved to 41-10 on the year Friday night with a 14-4 victory over Ecclesia College.

The Eagles jumped out early scoring five runs in the bottom of the second inning to take a 5-0 lead.  Ecclesia College kept the game close by scoring three runs in the top of the fifth inning to trail 6-4.  After that, OKWU turned up a notch, scoring six runs in the bottom of the sixth to run-rule Ecclesia.  The Eagles out hit Ecclesia 16-5.  Hugo Lemus got the win on the mound for the Eagles.  In five innings of work, Lemus gave up four runs on five hits, walked five, and struck out five.  Brandon Cummings was hot at the plate as he went 3 for 5 with two doubles, a home run, and 3 RBI's while Austin Murrphy went 2 for 5 with a double, triple, and 5 RBI's.  David Espinoza, Avery Flores, John Davenport, and Jeff Butler each got two hits while Zair Koeiman, Connor Finkhouse, and Gunner Joyce each got a hit.

Both teams will play a doubleheader starting at Noon on Saturday at Doenges Stadium.  It's also Senior Day as the Eagles will honor the graduating seniors.
