Music festivals are a summer staple, but there is no need to travel hundreds of miles to hear you favorite bluegrass music. June 5th and 6th the Skiatook Bluegrass Association is bringing some of the best in Bluegrass music to Skiatook for the eleventh annual Tallgrass Music Festival.

Headlining this year's festival are popular national artists Nu-Blu and Monroe Crossing. Both bands will be playing Friday as well as Saturday.

Also included in the lineup are Scenic Roots, Coyote Hill, and Blue Pearl.

Scenic Roots will also be hosting the children activities for the festival, targeted at teaching kids about music and introducing them to bluegrass.

The festival begins Friday at 2pm and bands will play until 9pm. Saturday, the music will begin at 1pm and end with a “band scramble” from 9-10pm.

And in case you were concerned about the weather, fear not. Larry Nunly, director of the Tallgrass Music Festival says plans are in place, the festival is rain or shine.

Come out to Skiatook for the Tallgrass Music Festival June 5th and 6th.
