Bruins Fall to Bixby in District Battle

Bartlesville High baseball battled but could not get a sweep against the District leader on Tuesday night at Bill Doenges Memorial Stadium.

Bixby topped BHS 6-0.

Despite a great final six frames from starter Nik Johnson, the top of the first inning did the Bruins in. Bixby would score four runs on four singles, an error and two walks. That lead would hold for the Spartans the rest of the way.

Tip your cap to Bixby starting pitcher Cooper Moore, who only allowed two baserunners in a complete game shutout. A one-out single from Brenden Asher in the third and a two-out walk to Johnson in the sixth were the only two to reach against Moore, who is a University of Kansas Commit.

A stellar final six innings from Johnson and good defense kept Bartlesville hanging around. Harrison Clark would make back-to-back highlight reel catches in left in the top of the fifth.

Johnson would allow only one more base hit past the first, but the Bruin offense could not claw back. The loss drops BHS out of regional hosting contention.

Bartlesville has a chance to surpass its District win total from a year ago on the road at Tahlequah on Thursday evening - the District Finale for the Bruins.

That is rainout makeup game from earlier this season. A 4:30 scheduled first pitch.
