It was a successful weekend for the Doenges Ford Indians in Fort Smith, Arkansas in the Kazter Tournament – As Bartlesville went 2-2 against tough competition and nearly made the tournament’s title game.

The Indians fell to Three Rivers 5-4 in eight innings on Sunday in the semifinals of the event.

After winning two games against Sheridan and Fort Smith on Saturday to make the semis, Bartlesville would rally again to nearly beat the Bandits, but fell just short.

The Indians had the tying run thrown out at home plate in the bottom of the eighth, which preserved the one-run Three Rivers win.

Bartlesville had stormed back from down three entering the bottom of the seventh to force extras. Bartlesville got a huge double from Dewey Bulldogger Cole Hancock to get within one.

The Indians would end up tying the game on another base knock, this time an infield base hit from Luke Fox.

The game would stay tied. Three Rivers would score a run in the top of the eighth to retake the lead, then Bartlesville would gamble, sending the tying run home with two outs on a tag-attempt. Unfortunately he was thrown out by the Bandit left fielder, and the game would be over.

Bartlesville is 5-4 on the year, the Indians will play their first two Oklahoma Collegiate League games on Wednesday night.
