The Doenges Ford Indians have started their trip to Fort Smith, Arkansas at 0-1.

Bartlesville fell to the Elk City Mudcats 10-2 in six innings late on Friday night.

The Tribe ran into similar issues they had in opening weekend with walks and errors – plus had some struggles on offense.

Bartlesville committed four errors leading to six unearned runs. Indian pitching also walked 10 guys in those six frames. On the same token, the Indians only scratched two hits against four different Mudcat pitchers.

The only two runs the Indians scored were in the top of the fifth. One was on an Elk City error, which briefly opened the door for Bartlesville to come back.

It was 3-2 Mudcats at the time. They would then strike for seven unanswered in the bottom of the fifth and six to win in an eight-run run-rule.

Bartlesville will have a chance to get back on track quickly on Saturday evening, as the Indians play two games to round out pool play. Wins may be necessary in-order to have a chance at the tournament title on Sunday.

A 5:00 PM first pitch against Sheridan on Saturday night. The Tribe will then face Ft. Smith at 7:30 immediately following.

Both those games will air on KWON – AM 1400, FM 93.3, 95.1 and KWONTV.com.
