The Doenges Ford Indians had a stellar day No. 1 in the Ozarks, as Bartlesville has started the College of the Ozarks Showcase at 2-0 following two wins over a couple talented clubs on Thursday.

Bartlesville topped Mountain Home, Arkansas 9-4 then beat the JC Blazers 9-4 as well.

In the first contest Bartlesville overcame an early deficit to grab the five-run win. Bartlesville trailed the Lockeroom 3-1 entering the top of the fifth, which is when the Indians bats came alive. Bartlesville scored five in the fifth, three more on the seventh.

Jace Thompson had probably the biggest hit of his young Tribe career in the seventh.

Up by two, Thompson would clear the bases with a double down the line.

Alan Covarrubias was sharp on the mound – he retired the last nine he faced. He went all seven frames, scattered seven hits. He had eight strikeouts and two walks.

In game two Bartlesville led early. The Indians would score four runs in the first two innings and never look back in another 9-4 win.

The JC Blazers scored three in the sixth, but never seriously threatened. Matt Winters and Harrison Clark combined for the seven innings on the bump. Winters went five scoreless.

Kaden Young, Luke Fox and John Reed all had two hits in the victory. Reed notched his first hit as an Indian. Bartlesville improves to 8-4-1 on the year.

The Indians have a time change on Friday – instead of a night game the Tribe will play at 2:00 PM against Forsyth. Game was originally scheduled for 6:45 PM.

A contest we will have on Sports Talk 1500 AM and 99.1 FM – KPGM.

The Indians final two games of the tournament - at 12:15 PM and 4:45 PM will air on KWON - AM 1400, FM 93.3 and 95.1 FM.
