Indians Work on Walks, Errors

The Doenges Ford Indians have two more off days until the Tribe travels to Fort Smith, Arkansas for four games over three days.

The Indians opened up their season going 3-2 against a tough trio of teams. Ft. Smith run-ruled the club. Bartlesville split with Three Rivers then swept the Ada Braves.

Walks and errors are the two biggest issues that face Bartlesville after its first five games. The Indian walked 25 guys in 29 innings over the five games. Bartlesville also committed 14 errors in the five contests.

Manager John Pannell says they will work on those issues.

The addition of Brenden Asher’s arm should be a buoy to the team’s pitching depth this weekend. Asher was Bartlesville High’s No. 1 starter this past spring, but did not pitch last weekend because of a family vacation. Asher combined with veteran lefty Alan Covarrubias, newcomer from Glenpool Matt Winters and Caney Valley’s Daniel Barham, gives the Indians some options on the mound.

First game from the Natural State on Friday night at 8:15, we will have coverage of the Indians this weekend on KWON and KWONTV.com.
