The OKWU Eagles took the floor Wednesday night for a matchup with the Kansas Wesleyan Coyotes. We’ll start with the girls game first, Lady Eagles played a tough game, got down early and just were not able to crawl all the way back, losing 64-52 and dropping the season series with the Coyotes.

Lady Eagles move to 8-16 and 7-11 in KCAC play.

On the guys side it was a different story. This game was close back and forth with OKWU even trailing at the half. Eagles would prevail over the Coyotes in a close one, 60-55. Eagles started the first half poorly, shooting 0-11 from the 3-point line after the first 20 minutes. Brandon Bird was able to open the lid from behind the arc for the Eagles with this huge trey in the second half.

What they lacked in shooting though, Jaden Lietzke more than made up for, for the Eagles in the paint. Lietzke finished the night with a double-double with 23 points and 13 boards, along with Kaleb Stokes who had 12 points and 17 boards. OKWU led 59-45 under 4 minutes before the Coyotes went on a 10-0 run to make it 59-55.

Lietzke made huge plays for the Eagles down the stretch, he talks about the win.

Got a chance to speak with Coach Bostwick postgame and here were his thoughts on the win over the Coyotes.

Wesleyan men get the sweep over the Coyotes and both Eagle squads are back Saturday at home against Avila College.
