The Women’s College World Series will kick off in Oklahoma City on Thursday, as both OU and Oklahoma State will begin their search for a national championship in softball.

Oklahoma fans got a welcome piece of news on Wednesday, the Sooners No. 1 starting pitcher in Jordy Bahl will be available some this weekend.

Bahl was previously No. 1 recruit in the country, the freshman has a .95 ERA, and 199 strikeouts in 132 innings.

Head coach Patty Gasso talks about the situation.

Gasso reiterated that the club has talked with all the doctors and Bahl’s family before letting her give it a go. Bahl has not pitched at all in the postseason. OU faces Northwestern in the first round on Thursday afternoon at 1:30.

Meanwhile Oklahoma State is the favorite on the bottom side of the bracket. The Pokes have run through the postseason undefeated so far, sweeping its regional and super. This is the Cowgirls third straight trip to Oklahoma City.

Head coach Kenny Gajewski says since about year three in his tenure - the program has really taken off.

Oklahoma State will face Arizona on Friday at 8:30 PM.
