A Bartlesville man was seen in Washington County Court on Wednesday on the charge of child abuse. Paul Calhoun Jr. had a warrant out for his arrest on this charge since it was filed on Aug. 10, 2022. According to an affidavit, Calhoun was with the minor victim and the victim’s mother at her house in Bartlesville when the mother of the victim was awakened by the sound of what she believed to be the sound of Calhoun hitting the victim with a belt.

The mother asked Calhoun how many times he spanked the victim to which he said, “three to five times, and next time I’ll beat him like a grown man.” The mother and responding police witnessed multiple red marks on the victim’s thigh and abdomen, some of which had started to blister.

The victim allegedly had tried to ride Calhoun’s motorcycle, which led to the alleged child abuse. Calhoun was given a bond of $25,000 in this case and was ordered to appear back on Oct. 6.
