The City of Barnsdall has had a rough few weeks, but the town has its annual Bigheart Day celebration to look forward to this weekend. The fun starts on Friday evening with an alumni basketball game at 6 p.m. at Gilbert Fieldhouse.

On Saturday morning, there will be a kids fishing derby at 7 a.m. out at Birch Lake followed by a turtle race and frog-jumping contest on the intersection of Highway 11 and Main Street at 9:30 a.m. The Bigheart Day Parade is set to start at 11 a.m.

Following the parade will be a pie eating contest on the Community Center lawn, along with games for kids going on throughout the day. The alumni softball game starts at 2 p.m. and the corn hole tournament is at 6 p.m. Steve Sutherland will perform that evening and fireworks will finish the evening at 9:30 p.m.

The American Legion Post 227 will finish the weekend with a Memorial Day Service at 10 a.m. at the Ethel Reece Cemetery on that Monday.
