It has been a rough few weeks for the City of Barnsdall, but this weekend is set to shine a bright light on the town with the annual Bigheart Days. Secretary with the Barnsdall Chamber of Commerce, Melissa Mead-Pearson, talks about some of the events that will be taking place throughout the day on Saturday.

She added that with what the town has been through, this is something that Barnsdall needs.

For the first time ever, the parade will feature a dog costume contest.

The turtle race and frog-jumping contest is set to take place on the intersection of Highway 11 and Main Street at 9:30 a.m. The Bigheart Day Parade is set to start at 11 a.m. The pie eating contest will take place on the Community Center lawn.

The alumni softball game starts at 2 p.m. and the corn hole tournament is at 6 p.m. Steve Sutherland will perform that evening and fireworks will finish the evening at 9:30 p.m.

The American Legion Post 227 will finish the weekend with a Memorial Day Service at 10 a.m. at the Ethel Reece Cemetery on that Monday.
