The Pawhuska Huskies split two close ones at Ripley on Tuesday night. The Lady Huskies escaped with the win, while the boys fell short in overtime.

In a defensive battle, the Lady Huskies held a 12 point lead late in the third quarter, but Ripley battled back to make it tight in the late going. In the end, Pawhuska pulled out a 42-37 win. Midway through the final frame, the lead stood at five when Brooklyn Miles made this basket.

The final minutes turned into a free throw shooting contest for Pawhuska. The lead got down to three inside the final minute, but the Lady Huskies were able to make enough free throws to hang on for the win. Miles led the way in scoring for Pawhuska, who improves to 17-2 on the year.

The boys fought back from a 12 point halftime deficit to force overtime, but fell short, 68-63. With the game tied at 54 apiece heading into overtime, all but two points in the overtime stanza came from the foul line.

That basket came with Pawhuska down three with 20 seconds left when a Ripley defender intercepted a pass from Darian West and took it to the goal for the layup.

Pawhuska worked to cut that 12 point deficit to one in the waning stages of the fourth quarter. This basket from senior Kane Foreman gave Pawhuska its first lead since the early stages of the game.

Following a timeout, the Warriors drained the clock all the way down and made the game-tying shot with two seconds left, sending the game to overtime.

Darian West, Jenson Snodgrass, Antwine Hamilton and Foreman were all in double figures for Pawhuska, who falls to 10-9 on the year.

Up next for Pawhuska is a game at Pawnee on Thursday. That is a game you can hear on 99.1 FM KPGM and streaming on KPGMTV.com beginning at 5:50 p.m.
