Bruin Football Wrapping Summer Pride

Bartlesville High football is trucking along with offseason workouts, as we are nearly two weeks away from actual practices beginning at Custer Stadium.

First year head coach Matt Hennesy has the guys for only a few more days until those practices begin.

The Bruins just went through Hell Week, with a number of intense workouts to wrap up summer pride. BHS will then hold testing to see how far they’ve come in their strength training over the summer.

The Bruins entered the OSSAA Dead Period after competing well in a 7-on-7 tournament in Bixby.

BHS battled with some of the state’s biggest brands, including a win over last year’s 6A-II state champ in Sand Springs.

As far as the workouts this week, the Bruins were required to run 40 perfect 40-yard dashes on Monday. Hennesy says it took the players 62 tries to get the workout finished.

Thursday morning he had the football players running up the hill in the Wesleyan church parking lot to put a cap on the week.

Practices begin Aug. 3 with the first game on Aug. 28 at Custer Stadium against Skiatook.
