Bruins Come up Short in COP-Arvest Finals

Bartlesville High boy’s hoops came up one possession short of a ConocoPhillips Arvest Invitational championship on Saturday evening at Bruin Field House.

Booker T. Washington bested BHS, 56-51 in the title round. It was a tight affair, with neither club ever getting more than a seven-point lead.

Turnovers were a problem for Bartlesville, who gave up a 13-0 run in a two minute stretch late in the third quarter and early in the fourth. The Bruins saw a six-point advantage turn into a seven-point deficit, but still battled back.

This three-pointer from David Castillo got Bartlesville within three-points with just over a minute left in regulation.

BHS had two possessions down by three-points, but could not draw closer in the final seconds. Bartlesville guys drop to 4-4 on the year. This was the first appearance in the championship round of the Bruins own tournament since 2018.

The Lady Bruins also lost on Saturday in the consolation finals to Southmoore, 67-35.
