Bullpups Run Ends in Neodesha

The season came to a halt Tuesday night in Neodesha as the Caney Valley Bullpups dropped a 66-56 decision to the Bluestreaks in the Sub-State semifinals. What opened as a tight, back-and-forth first quarter quickly shifted when Neodesha found its offensive rhythm and started stacking possessions. Caney Valley weathered the surge and clawed back to within five by halftime, keeping things uncomfortable for the home crowd.

The third quarter delivered more tension. The Bullpups flashed offensive firepower and briefly trimmed the deficit to just one point, only to see Neodesha respond each time with timely buckets. It was that kind of night where every push met with an answer. Late in the fourth, the margin stayed narrow, but a handful of late miscues forced Caney Valley into the foul game. Early whistles had already put the Bluestreaks in the bonus, and the free-throw line became the difference down the stretch.

Traxcyn Garton and senior Peyton Darden led the Bullpups in scoring in their final outing of the season. While the loss closes this chapter, there’s a clear silver lining. Darden is the lone senior, meaning the bulk of the roster returns next year with postseason experience and a fresh reminder of how thin the margin can be in March. The ending stings, but the foundation is still there.
