Getting down to it in high school baseball, as many schools will start to have some postseason games over the next few days and weeks.

This weekend it is Class A and B District play. Both Copan and Barnsdall had good enough seasons that they are hosting those postseason tournaments.

The Copan Hornets are looking for their first Class B Regional appearance since 2010. Copan enters the playoffs at 14-6. Copan will face Welch and Bluejacket in the three-team District today.

Head coach Daniel Wren says those opponents are plenty capable.

Copan has beaten Bluejacket 7-4 and 12-1 in two matchups in the regular season. Meanwhile the Hornets own a 9-2 victory over Welch in its only meeting earlier this year.

Wren talks about how his team is going to approach the playoffs.

It is a double-elimination tournament. Copan will face Welch at noon and the Hornets will take on Bluejacket around 2:00. There may be four games on Thursday or more games on Friday, as well.

Barnsdall is hosting a Class A District, as well. The Panthers began their District on Wednesday with two shutout wins over Okay, 9-0 and Foyil, 12-0.

The wins move Barnsdall to one victory from Regionals. Panthers will face Okay at 3:30 on Thursday afternoon. Barnsdall only has to win one of two possible District title games.

Panthers are 22-7 on the season.
