Copan Confident Into 2024

It is day two of high school football practice across the state.

Most teams kicked off the official fall camp practices on Monday. Teams will go without pads for the first three days but will be able to put the full pads on by the end of the week.

At Copan, the Hornets have some of the higher expectations across our area. Copan is coming off its first playoff appearance since 2008 this past fall.

According to head coach Marshall Foreman, more than 20 guys are out for the team this season, a big increase in numbers for a program which struggled to field a team before COVID. The big class of athletes for the Hornets are now juniors.

Foreman talks about the progression the Class of 2026 guys have made after their first two years playing varsity football.

Prior to this first week of practice, it was the weight room over the summer that gave Foreman and his team even more confidence heading into this season.

Copan in a new classification and District this season. The Hornets are still eight-man in Class B-II District 4. The Hornets begin 2024 in a non-District contest at Midway on Zero Week, Friday, Aug. 30.
