Dewey Football Heads Into Spring Season

Spring workouts for Dewey football begin Monday as spring sports have concluded.

For the Bulldoggers, they are entering their second season under the direction of Scott Sapulpa. Dewey finished 4-6 last season in Sapulpa's first year, one win short of a playoff appearance.

The Bulldoggers are hosting a team camp May 27 and 28 and will be joined by Pawhuska, Oklahoma Union, Oologah, Sperry, Vinita and Blackwell. Sapulpa says his team will have less preparation time for the camp due to the success of spring sports.

For Sapulpa, he's nearing a full calendar year as head coach of the Bulldoggers. He was promoted from defensive coordinator to head coach after the departure of Ryan Richardson in June 2025.

Sapulpa talks about the excitement level of working on football again.

Dewey opens their season Aug. 27 on the road against Vinita.
