Hawkins as Impressive as Mestemaker
We continue to look at preseason college football this week, as Big 12 Media Days wrapped up on Wednesday in Frisco, Texas with the other half of the conference talking about the upcoming fall.
KU and K-State had both Lance Leipold and new Wildcat skipper Colin Klein take the podium.
Wednesday, we talked about new Oklahoma State quarterback Drew Mestemaker. Outside of that North Texas transfer, the next most impactful guy on either side of the ball may be an Oklahoma native returning home.
Caleb Hawkins transferred to Stillwater after having an outstanding freshman season in Denton.
Hawkins was fifth in the country in rushing yards with 1,434. He averaged 5.8-yards a carry and had 12 touchdowns. He was a lightly recruited high school product out of Shawnee at North Rock Creek High School.
Mestemaker talks about the Poke’s new running back.
In Mestemaker and Hawkins, Oklahoma State imported the top-passer and the No. 5 rusher in the country from last year into Stillwater. Both will be sophomores.
