Historic Weekend for OKWU Athletics

It was a solid weekend all the way around for Oklahoma Wesleyan athletics, with women's volleyball and both soccer teams advancing to the final site of their respective NAIA national tournaments.
 
On the soccer pitch, the Eagle men surged past Westcliff University to advance to the round of 16 with a 3-0 win. OKWU will next face William Penn University on Dec. 2.
 
The Eagles will spend the rest of the tournament in Orange Beach, Ala. This is the third year in a row the program has advanced to the final site.
 
In women's soccer, the Lady Eagles are back in the round of 16 for the second time in four years. OKWU beat Mid-America Christian University on Saturday, 4-0. The Lady Eagles meet MidAmerica Nazarene on Dec. 1.
 
Final site matches for women's soccer take place in Pensacola, Fla.
 
For women's volleyball, the Lady Eagles are back in Sioux City, Iowa for the third straight year. OKWU beat Nelson College in a five set thriller on Saturday to advance.
 
The Lady Eagles advance into pool play in the national tournament. They are paired with Bellevue University and Bushnell University. OKWU meets Bushnell on Dec. 4 in Sioux City. The winner of the pool advances to the quarterfinals.
 
Head men's soccer coach Jamie Peterson talked about the buzz at OKWU with three teams advancing in their national tournaments.
 
This is the first time ever that Oklahoma Wesleyan has sent women's volleyball and both soccer teams to the final site of nationals in the same year.
