Indians Baseball Putting Together Historic Summer

We continue to look back this week at the Doenges Toyota Indians state championship on Sunday in Ada and look ahead to the Mid-South Regional in North Carolina starting next Wednesday.

A summer ago, the Indians advanced to the state finals and lost to the Ada Braves, 10-5. Bartlesville went 0-2 against Ada in last year's state tournament.

This summer, the Indians beat the Braves twice to win their first state championship since 1978.

The championship is the latest of a trend for Bartlesville this summer of exceptional play in tournaments. The Indians won the Glen Winget Tournament for the second year in a row, as well as the Bobcat Showcase Tournament in Branson, Mo. last month.

In Sunday's winner-take-all state championship game, the Indians saw an eight run lead get cut to two, but Bartlesville survived and won the game by three.

First-year manager Tony Osborne talks about the team's resilience.

Similar to the state tournament, the regional tournament next week is a double-elimination bracket.
