The Doenges Toyota Indians won the state legion championship on Sunday afternoon in Ada over the Ada Braves, 9-6.

Relive the final play as heard on KPGM and KWONTV.com.

In a winner-take-all contest, Bartlesville got off to an exceptional start. They struck for six runs in the top of the first inning. This double by Jaxon Zaun capped off the big inning.

The bats stayed hot for the Indians, they struck for two more in the top of the second inning. This double by Grant Goldman made it 8-0.

Goldman led the way once again for the Indians, he finished with two hits and 3 RBI. Zaun finished with two hits, a walk and two RBI.

The Braves didn't go down easy. Ada struck for three runs in the third and three more runs in the fourth to cut it to a two-run game. The Indians stretched it back to a three run game in the sixth after Kamen Sprague walked to score Easton Davis.

Davis started on the mound for the Indians. He pitched three innings and allowed five hits, five runs with only two earned, two walks and struck out three. Rhett Leu relieved Davis, allowing just one hit over the final four innings. He walked three and struck out four.

The state legion championship for Bartlesville is their fourth in the program's 85-year history, and the first since 1978. First-year manager Tony Osborne becomes the third skipper to win a state championship, joining Tug Baughn and Al Solenberger.

The Indians now qualify for an American Legion regional tournament in North Carolina starting on Aug. 5. More details on that tournament are forthcoming.
