Indians Have Chance to Win State

Big day for the Doenges Ford Indians, as Bartlesville will begin play in the Oklahoma State Legion Tournament for the first time since 2018 on Thursday afternoon.

The Indians have not been a Legion program since 2019, but a recent push to try to get Legion baseball back in Oklahoma have the Tribe back in the event starting this afternoon in Ada.

The team, which still competed in several college baseball events this year, will be younger on the field than usual. No Luke Fox this weekend for Bartlesville, who is a bit too old to play in the State Tournament.

The good news is, many of the other teams in the event are 17-and-under, which should still make Bartlesville one of the older teams in the tournament. It is a six-team double-elimination event.

STATE LEGION BRACKET

The Tribe will open the event at 1:30 this afternoon against Midwest City on Sports Talk 99.1 FM and 1500 AM – KPGM. We will have video coverage on KWONTV.com.

It appears than Hunter Shea will get the start in game one on Thursday. Should the Indians win the first contest they will play at 6:00 tonight against the Ada A’s. That game would air on KWON.

Bartlesville is 20-13-1 on the summer.

Winner of the state legion tournament will move on to a regional event held in Louisiana.
