Lampton Tabbed New Pawhuska Girl's Coach

Pawhuska has a new girl's basketball coach and the name is familiar to many across northeast Oklahoma. David Lampton, who served as head coach of Oklahoma Union for more than 30 seasons, led the Lady Cougars to four state title appearances and one state championship.
In 2021, Lampton left Oklahoma Union and took a job to become the girl's basketball coach at Fairland. Lampton says he has known Pawhuska High School Principal Bron Williams and Superintendent Chris Tanner from their time at Nowata and from all he has heard, this was an opportunity he couldn't pass up.
Pawhuska graduates four starting seniors, but will bring back Brooklyn Miles and a group around her that got plenty of experience last year. Lampton saw some of those players in action in the opening round of regionals, a game that Pawhuska won, 44-36.
Lampton is one of the winningest coaches across the state of Oklahoma. He is one win away from number 600.
