Lots of Local Talent at 2A State Track Meet

Lots of local high school talent is taking center stage this weekend at the 2A state track and field meet at Western Heights High School.
 
For a handful of local schools, multiple athletes have a chance to shine.
 
Nowata sent just one track star in sophomore Tristan McBride. After preliminary races on Friday, McBride finished 15th in the 100-meter dash and 10th in the 300-meter hurdles.
 
For Oklahoma Union, on the boys' side, the Cougars finished 14th in both the 4x100-meter relay and the 4x400-meter relay. In the field, regional champion Haden Johnson finished fifth in shot put. Jensen Anderson finished seventh in  high jump.
 
For OKU on the girls' side, Lauryn Jackson finished 16th in the 3200-meter race. The 4x800-meter relay of Sawyer and Lauryn Jackson, Taylor Dixon and Raiden Kuehn finished sixth. In the field, Kaden Jennings finished as state runner-up in high jump. Sara Eveleigh finished 13th in shot put.
 
For Caney Valley, three girls finished inside the top 15 in pole vault. Anderly Edwards finished fifth, Brylee Reinke and McKenzie McCabe finished tied for 13th. Roxy Hawkins placed 11th in 100-meter hurdles during prelims.
 
The 2A state track and field meet wraps up Saturday at Western Heights High School in Oklahoma City.
