The Oologah-Talala Mustangs are back on the road, heading to Vinita for the second time in the last eight days, and they’re hoping the sequel looks a lot like the original. The last time these two teams met, it was the Mustangs walking away with a 62-46 win, which also happens to be their most recent victory.
Since that game, things haven’t exactly gone according to plan. Oologah-Talala has dropped two straight, falling to Verdigris and then Miami, turning what looked like a momentum-builder into a short skid. Now the Mustangs find themselves in need of a reset, and few things cure a losing streak faster than a familiar opponent they’ve already handled.
That’s the opportunity waiting in Vinita. The Mustangs will try to repeat last week’s performance and snap the two-game slide, while the Hornets look to return the favor on their home floor. Either way, someone’s getting a very different result this time around, because high school basketball rarely gives out the same script twice.
