Both men's and women's basketball starts at Oklahoma Wesleyan this month, as the two squads are looking to build off of their seasons last year.

On the women's side, the Lady Eagles finished just below .500 last season with a 13-15 record. They went 10-12 in Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference play, and missed a spot in the KCAC tournament by two games.

Head coach Heidi Messer talked about a new group coming to Bartlesville this season.

The Lady Eagles open their season on Oct. 25 on the road for Oklahoma City University. Their first home game is Nov. 19 against Friends University.

On the men's side, the Eagles are looking to get right back where they were last season, after making a run all the way to the national championship game. The OKWU men were regular season KCAC tournament champions, and as a 7-seed in their pod, ran all the way to the title game before falling to the College of Idaho. The Eagles finished last season 28-8, and 19-3 in KCAC play.

The Eagles get lots of pieces back but lose some key players including Jaden Lietzke, Dylan Philip and Derrick Talton, Jr. Head coach Donnie Bostwick talked about the return of Yashi McKenzie, Nick Bene and Isaac Stanek.

The OKWU men open their season on Oct. 31 at Skiatook High School for Georgia Gwinnett College in day one of The Tulsa Challenge.
