OKWU Hoops Advances to KCAC Semifinals

Oklahoma Wesleyan basketball advanced to the semifinals of the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference tournament on Thursday night.
 
The Eagles topped Avila, 76-59.
 
OKWU found an offensive groove near the midpoint of the first half, creating separation on Avila. The Eagles went on a 25-5 run over a six minute stretch to grow the lead to 18 points.
 
This three-pointer from Nick Bene sparked the OKWU run in the first half.
 
Bene finished wit five points and eight rebounds.
 
The Eagles led Avila at the half, 36-24.
 
OKWU continued to shoot the ball well in the second half. They grew the lead as large as 22 points to put the game away. This bucket through contact from Tamaje Izuagbe helped seal it.
 
Izuagbe finished with 22 points and 10 rebounds. Yashi McKenzie finished with 20 points off the bench with three three-pointers.
 
The win sends OKWU back to the semifinals of the KCAC tournament on Saturday night at home. The Eagles will meet Southwestern (KS) in the second round at 7 p.m. Coverage can be heard on KWON - AM 1400, FM 93.3 and 95.1.
