OKWU Hoops Splits Home Battle With Evangel

Oklahoma Wesleyan basketball split their final Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) doubleheader on home court on Wednesday night against Evangel University.
 
The Lady Eagles dropped a back-and-forth game, 75-68, the Eagles won another close one, 75-69.
 
In the women's game, the Lady Eagles and Valor generated high volumes of offense. Both sides shot over 40% in the first half. Evangel held a 38-35 lead at halftime.
 
The Lady Eagles got down as many as eight points in the final seven minutes before going on a 9-0 run to lead by one. This Kamryn Phoenix jumper put the Lady Eagles up one in the final three minutes.
 
Phoenix finished with eight. Four Lady Eagles finished in double figures, led by Gracie Alexander with 15 points.
 
The Lady Eagles with the loss drop to 10-17 overall and 6-15 in the KCAC.
 
In the men's game, Evangel got hot from the outside from start to finish to stay in the game. The Valor tied the game at 37 on a last second shot to close out the first half, and stayed hot from the outside to lead by as many as six mutliple times in the second half.
 
The Eagles found answers offensively, led in part by Jaden Wilson. OKWU went on a 17-4 run over an eight minute stretch to seal it. This three-pointer by Jaden Wilson put the Eagles up by seven.
 
Wilson finished with 13 points. Tamaje Izuagbe led the way with 18.
 
The Eagles improve to 24-3 with the win, they are 19-2 in the KCAC.
 
Both OKWU clubs will wrap up the regular season on Saturday afternoon in McPherson, Kan. The Lady Eagles will get the afternoon started at 1 p.m. with the men to follow around 3 p.m. Both games can be heard on Sports Talk, 99.1 FM - KPGM.
