The Pawhuska Huskies made their season debut on Thursday afternoon in the first round of the Cleveland Tournament. The boys fell in heartbreaking fashion, losing 54-47 to Metro Christian, while the girls defetaed Mingo Valley, 68-19.

The boys trailed for a majority of the game. It was a 37-28 Patriot lead going into the fourth quarter, but a 9-0 run quickly got Pawhuska right back into it. The freshman Jenson Snodgrass hit a clutch basket, which gave the Huskies a 43-42 lead with just over three minutes remaining in the fourth quarter.

Pawhuska had the ball with a minute remaining and the game tied at 43. The Huskies held for the final shot, but had the ball poked away as time expired. In overtime, Pawhuska failed to make a shot.
The Lady Huskies never allowed Mingo Valley to be within striking distance. Pawhuska led 22-0 before the Lady Eagles scored their first point. There was two minutes remaining in the first half when Mingo Valley made its first basket.

One of many highlights for Pawhuska's performance on Thursday was freshman Brooklyn Miles. She had a game-high 21 points, including this first basket of her high school career.

The Pawhuska Huskies will play in the consolation bracket on Friday. They will play the loser of Skiatook and Pryor at 2:30 p.m. The Lady Huskies will play at 7 p.m. against Metro Christian. Both of those games will be on 99.1 FM KPGM and KPGMTV.com.
