Pawhuska Wins in Dramatic Fashion on Homecoming

It was an instant homecoming classic in Pawhuska last night, as both the Huskies and Lady Huskies picked up dramatic wins.

The Lady Huskies won 44-42. Pawhuska trailed by a point inside the final minute, but a big defensive stop and this bucket from Brooklyn Miles gave Pawhuska the lead for good.

On the opposite end, the ball was batted out of bounds on the baseline with two seconds left. Newkirk had a great look on the inbound pass, but the shot from underneath the goal was no good.

It was a game that Pawhuska led by as much as 11 in the second quarter, but the Lady Tigers fought to trim the Pawhuska lead to 24-21 heading into halftime. Newkirk led once and that was in the final minutes of the fourth quarter.

Miles led all scorers with 28 points. The Lady Huskies are now 11-1 on the year.

The boys won in a high scoring affair, 67-52. The game was closer than that final score indicates, as Pawhuska led for a vast majority of the contest, but for the most part Newkirk was able to keep it within single digits.

Four players were in double figures for Pawhuska, including Blaine Manning who got the second half started off right following the halftime homecoming festivities.

Dax Godsey, Darian West and Antwine Hamilton were the other players who reached double figures for Pawhuska. The Huskies get back to 6-6 on the year with the win.

Pawhuska is back in action tonight with a home game against Grove. We will carry that game for you on 99.1 FM KPGM and KPGMTV.com.
