Shelley 2nd at 6A State
Congrats to Bartlesville High tennis standout Abby Shelley, who for the second straight season has finished as the 6A State runner up at No. 1 singles.
Shelley finished the year losing to the one-seed out of Bixby in the State Championship match.
Shelley went 24-2 this year with both those losses to the eventual champion. Shelley has lost only three matches in her last two seasons combined.
All the other BHS tennis players were bounced from State early on Saturday and finished somewhere between ninth and 12th statewide.
Notes from BHS HC Bryan Reece on State last weekend:
Sophie Kelly ended her freshman year at 14-9 in 2 singles.
Claire Auschwitz and Ava Kate Craig ended their careers as our only varsity senior girls at 20-8, and Kayleigh Khan and Dani Rodriguez ended at 15-8 on the season.
Great year for the Lady Bruins, as our JH qualified for the state tournament, and varsity girls won regionals and played well at state.
