Six Dewey Baseball Players Named All-District

Coming off a historic season, a handful of Dewey Bulldogger baseball players have been named to the all-district team.
 
Dewey finished district play with a record of 12-2, tied with Metro Christian for the top spot. Dewey was the only team out of their district to advance to the state tournament.
 
The Bulldoggers had six players named to the all-district team. Layne Gastel was named the most valuable player in the district, he batted .385 this spring with two home runs and 51 RBI in 40 games. Gastel also finished second on the team on the mound in strikeouts with 46 in 47 innings.
 
Easton Davis was named offensive player of the year. Davis led the team with a .421 batting average, seven home runs and 59 RBI. He also tied for the team lead in stolen bases with Jay Murguia at 19.
 
Murguia, along with Parker Garrison and Nate Sloan were named first-team all-district as well for their success this season. Dewey ace Lathe Griggs was named first-team all-district as well as a pitcher.
 
The Bulldoggers qualified for the 3A state tournament this season, their first time at state since 2014. Dewey finished the year with an overall record of 30-10.
