We continue to eye the start of high school football, which is just around the corner.

Practices will start in about 5-6 weeks across Northeast Oklahoma.

One of the programs with the most change across our area is Wesleyan Christian School. The Mustangs graduated most of their big names last year. Former head coach Curt Cloud then stepped aside to let in a new era of WCS football.

Blaine Landers, who was the Mustang’s defensive coordinator last year, will take over the program. Aside from a large senior class who Wesleyan lost to graduation, everyone else has stuck around to build the program again.

Landers says lineman Zander Week will be one of the leaders for the Mustang this fall.

Landers says Weeks is 6-1 and a strong 205.

Other names Landers says to watch is the kicker, Isaac Valenzuela-Aramburo. Landers says his kicking has improved and he may play other positions, as well.

The WCS junior class this season is another Landers says has not had to contribute much to this point, but will starting this year.
