It will be an interesting season opener for Wesleyan Christian School football, as the Mustangs begin a new era of WCS football on Friday night in Bartlesville.

Wesleyan Christian will host Yale in a newly renovated football field off Silver Lake in Bartlesville. New bleachers and a new scoreboard.

It will also be the first game for WCS head coach Blaine Landers. Landers takes over for former longtime head coach Curt Cloud.

Yale has historically been a tough program in Class B. With the WCS move up to Class B-II this fall from Class C the past few years.

Landers says the game on Friday will be a good measuring stick.

Outside of Xander Week, most of the major skill players off the WCS teams the past three years graduated in May. However, Landers remains positive with more than 20 guys out for the team this fall camp.

He says this group has gotten used to success and want to win for themselves this season.

Good luck to WCS football at home against Yale on Friday night, kickoff at 7:00 PM.
